A few weeks ago I entered every WIAA football playoff game into a database. Here are some interesting statistics and trends I found out.
Note: Co-ops were counted as separate programs.

Most Playoff Games
Menominee has played in 80 WIAA playoff games; the most by any school. Checkout the top 10.

Most Consecutive Playoff Appearances
Menominee has made the WIAA playoffs every year going back to 1990; 22 straight years. It’s the longest playoff streak in WIAA history. Followed by Waupaca (since 1991, 21 years), Brodhead/Juda (since 1992, 20 years) and Stratford (since 1992, 20 years).
Most Consecutive Years with a Playoff Victory
Menominee has won a WIAA football playoff game ever year going back to 1992; 19 straight years. It’s the longest streak of its kind in WIAA history. Waunakee has won a playoff game every year going back to 1996; 15 straight years.
Most Playoff Appearances without a Win
Royall has made the WIAA playoff 11 times, but has yet to pickup a victory. It’s the most playoff appearances without a victory. Milwaukee Custer (now in a coop) made the playoffs nine times, but never won.
Greatest Playoff Drought
Both Milwaukee Nicolet and Rhinelander last made the WIAA playoffs in 1989. It’s the longest playoff drought by any current school that has made at least one playoff appearance in their past.
Common Playoff Matchups
Edgar vs. Stratford has been the most common WIAAplayoff matchup. The two schools have faced off against each other nine times.
Monona Grove vs. Waunakee, and Ashwaubenon vs. Menomonie are matchups that have occurred eight times.
Crivitz has a 6-0 WIAA playoff record against Florence. It’s the most dominating record one school has over another in WIAA playoff history (determined by wins and winning percentage).
