Note: Apologies to my regular (national) fan base, as this article won’t appeal to many of you.
A few weeks ago I entered every WIAA football playoff game into a database. Here are some interesting statistics and trends I found out.
Note: Co-ops were counted as separate programs.
There are many other facts and statistics I could derive from the database I created. If individuals or media are interested, I’m available to do research on request for a marginal fee, or for free in some cases. Just send me an e-mail with your request, and I’ll get back to you.
Most Playoff Games
Menominee has played in 80 WIAA playoff games; the most by any school. Checkout the top 10.

Menominee has won a WIAA football playoff game ever year going back to 1992; 19 straight years. It’s the longest streak of its kind in WIAA history. Waunakee has won a playoff game every year going back to 1996; 15 straight years.
Most Playoff Appearances without a Win
Royall has made the WIAA playoff 11 times, but has yet to pickup a victory. It’s the most playoff appearances without a victory. Milwaukee Custer (now in a coop) made the playoffs nine times, but never won.

Common Playoff Matchups
Edgar vs. Stratford has been the most common WIAAplayoff matchup. The two schools have faced off against each other nine times.
Monona Grove vs. Waunakee, and Ashwaubenon vs. Menomonie are matchups that have occurred eight times.
Crivitz has a 6-0 WIAA playoff record against Florence. It’s the most dominating record one school has over another in WIAA playoff history (determined by wins and winning percentage).
